1950 Split Sunroof 11G!

1950 11G Split Sunroof Beetle in Pastel Green, Driver, Older Restoration!

Here's a cool, rare, and desirable October 1950 Split Sunroof Beetle that was restored many years ago to the normal standard for the 1980's.  It will make a presentable and very enjoyable driver for someone, could have a few details corrected, and eventually be restored to a higher standard if that is desired.  As it sits right now, it's a far better looking car than most 66 year old Split Beetles out there!

The chassis, body, and 25hp engine all date to October 1950 which makes this a particularly interesting example for anyone looking to invest in a special and blue chip Vintage Volkswagen Beetle.  Other details to note include the correct full crash box transaxle, correct 16 inch wheels, ribbed bumpers, correct taillights, banana back seats, batwing steering wheel, and much more!

The body was restored and repainted in the original color of Pastel Green back in the 1980's.  It was done to the level of "restored" cars of that era, basically driver type quality, and it looks OK for a presentable driver today.  Overall the car presents well and could easily continue to be enjoyed as it is.  Details to note include the correct ribbed doors, round front horn grills, low mounted Split taillights, correct flat H rear apron, and the antenna bump on the roof is still present, too.  There are some incorrect details which include the later smooth semaphores, the dual pipe muffler, the front hood is from 1962 on up, the engine lid is from an Oval window although it has the correct Pope's nose license light, and the front apron, spare wheel bucket, and the driver's side front quarter has a patch from a bump long ago, prior to the redo.

The interior was redone during the restoration and looks plenty nice today.  Features include the correct banana back front seats, wool headliner, cloth door panels and seat upholstery, batwing steering wheel, and rear seat bolster pillows just to name a few.

Mechanically the car is stock with the correct (and believed to be the original-to-the-car) 25hp engine, full crash box/non-synchronized transaxle, 6 volt electrical system, and correct and very nice 16 inch wheels with Avon bias ply tires, too.  It is being serviced right now as it had been standing in a collection for a while.  It starts, runs, drives, shifts, and stops and has a nice tight feel to it as well.

Overall this is an extremely cool car, impressively solid and enjoyable, far nicer than the rotted and vulturized base cars, and a lot more attractively priced than the fresh trailer queen restorations which have much higher prices!  Thanks!

Please note this cool 1950 is located in Connecticut.
