1957 Standard Microbus!

1957 Standard Microbus, Original Paint, Exceptional Unrestored Bus!

Here is what is certainly among the nicest original paint Palm Green over Sand Green Standard Microbuses you'll ever see.  This beauty was discovered years ago in a Southern California garage where it had been trapped for decades due to a broken garage door.  It was in the dark, out of harms way, for decades, and it shows!  Super straight, as dry as they come, and the paint is strong with even the factory original pinstripes being nearly completely intact!

Some of the features to note include:

*Original Paint, only a small amount of professional blending by one of the nation's top preservationists

*Original Interior, paint, paneling, seat upholstery, floor mats, headliner was professionally replaced a handful of years back.

*Stock Running Gear, 36hp engine, split case transaxle, all 5 original rims in original paint, not the original engine but era appropriate

*Factory 6 Popout Window Bus with long spoon latches

*Factory Ambulance Fan

*Volkswagen Dealer Service Decals still intact in door jamb and seat stand area

The body is way above average, super straight with only small bonks, wobbles, and imperfections that come with being a 61 year old unrestored Bus.  It is very dry, has phenomenal original rockers, stunning original floors in original paint, and the underside is solid, clean, and has a coat of undercoating to keep it that way.  All of the doors, thick lip doglegs, flat decklid, crankstart apron, pressed bumpers, 15 inch wheels, fat base mirror arms, etc. are correct, original, and original paint, too.  There is just enough light fading on the top of the roof to demonstrate that the Bus is original paint to the people who might otherwise guess that it's an older restoration.

The interior is excellent, as nice as they come for survivors, and vastly original!  The Sand Green paint, Soft Green paneling and seat upholstery, snowflake middle kick is a nice repro, rear seat kick panel is original, Sand Green Ambulance Fan, rubber floor mats, are original!  All of the seats are the correct flat backrest seats, too.  The mohair headliner was professionally replaced some years back as the original side curtains had discolored and frayed around the side windows they way they all do after 50-60 years on Earth.  They did a nice job and it's faithful to the original, too.

Mechanically the Bus is all stock, 1192cc 36hp engine (not the original), split case transaxle with non-synchro first gear, stock brakes and suspension, and it's still 6 volt, of course.  The tires are Firestone 6.40-15 bias plies which closely resemble the original Continentals the Bus likely left the factory with back in 1957.

The Bus saw a full once over by one of the best preservationists in the Bus community some years ago and has mostly been on display in advanced collectors hands for the last several years.

This is an exceptional Bus, not a typical cobbled victim, but a beast that escaped ever deteriorating in the first place.  They are only original once and you'll wait a long time before you have a shot at another of this caliber!  Thanks!
