1960 Mango OG Paint!

1960 Mango Green and Seagull Grey Standard Microbus in Original Paint!

This cool patinaed early Standard has served as a daily driver, Camper, and workhorse for the owner over the past several years.  He has logged over 30,000 miles on it including numerous trips and adventures all over the USA and Canada as well.  It's participated in the Shasta Snow Trip and can be seen in "The Bus Movie" in the Shasta footage, too.

Numerous Bus People who have ridden in the Bus have remarked how "solid" and "dialed" the Bus feels on the road and that it is a great driver.

The body has a cool patinaed appearance and is mostly original Mango Green and Seagull Grey paint.  There is a little rust down low, mostly in the cargo rocker, and some thin spots showing on the lower nose as well.  Both battery trays are solid and the upper gutter areas have been retouched with no welding having been required in those areas.  Depending upon your personal tastes, the rocker and lower nose could be addressed and blended, but I think many of us would just leave it and continue to enjoy the Bus as it is.  Early in the Bus's life the Bus was bumped in the passenger's front door area and the door was replaced, likely at the Volkswagen dealer, with an NOS door.  It is a quality repair and the door looks and operates smoothly as it should.  The front floor corners were replaced, are solid, and the floor has a fresh coat of Mango Green paint on them, too.  The underside is impressively clean and solid as well.

The interior is a custom Camper setup that utilizes some original parts, it's simple, and functional.  The entire inside of the Bus has been well insulated and has a Propex heater for Winter camping.  That heater will be included at the asking price or a small price reduction can be made if the new owner does not want to include it.

Mechanically the Bus is a daily driver and has been for over the last 6 years.  It starts, runs, drives, and stops as it should.  The engine is a 1600cc single port with approximately 10,000 miles on it and it pulls and cruises comfortably at 55-60mph all day long.  The stock beam and spindles have been gone through and rebuilt, the electrical system has been converted to 12 volts, and all lights, blinkers, radio (speaker sucks), and horn all work as well.  Lastly a couple pieces of glass are cracked and the owner has spares which he will include in the sale.  Thanks!

Please note this cool Mango Bus is located in Port Townsend, Washington.
