1965 OG Velvet Crew Cab

1965 Crew Cab, Original Velvet Green Paint, Very Nice and Dry, Tons of Upgrades!

Here is one of the driest original paint early Crew Cabs you will likely ever see. The body has survived incredibly well over the last 5 decades, and this beast has been treated to some serious top shelf performance upgrades throughout.
It has had just 4 owners since new and currently has just under 96,000 original miles on it. One original key works all locks and the ignition, it won First Place at the famous Bulli Brigade Bus Show a few years back, and it's been featured in multiple magazines, prior to much of the major performance enhancements it has received.
Some of the numerous features of this Truck include:

* Fresh 2276cc engine that was dynoed at 160hp
* Pro street transaxle
* Huge Wilwood disc brakes at all 4 corners
* Professionally detailed Porsche Fuch's style wheels
* Safari windows
* Gene Berg locking Bus shifter
* 1000 watt stereo system that is set up for satellite radio.
The body is essentially what could be considered to be a best case scenario for an unrestored original paint Crew Cab. Super straight, incredibly dry, and the farthest thing from the typical rotted and abused early Truck. It has had no welding, has excellent original floors, rockers, outriggers, jackpoints, gates, bed, and even the original battery tray is rock solid. There is a very tiny hole the size of a jelly bean at the passenger's A pillar and a piece of tar board was stuck to the driver's front floor long ago. We cannot figure why that was done as the floor is solid as seen from the underside. The original L512 Velvet Green paint looks very cool as it is and could easily be polished up to a shine depending upon the next owner's personal taste.
The interior is very nice, clean, and is very faithful to the original including Mesh Grey upholstery, grey pressed board paneling, original floor mats, and original Velvet Green paint throughout. The dash is beautiful and the floors are awesome. The interior of the doors and ceiling have been lined with DynaMat sound deadener to reduce road and engine noise inside the Truck. Other details to note include the Gene Berg locking Bus shifter and the professionally installed stereo system with remote and hidden receiver which is located inside the tool compartment beneath the front seat.
Mechanically this Crew Cab is a monster with a fresh 2276cc 160hp engine featuring dual 44 Webers, Steve Tims Stage II heads, a big Engle cam with straight cut cam gears, Porsche 911 style fan shroud with 72 pass oil cooler and thermostatically controlled electric fan, full flow oiling, and an A1 exhaust system. The trans is a custom built Pro Street with a 344 ring and pinion and welded third and fourth gears. The narrowed front beam, hybrid spindles, and huge cross-drilled Wilwood disc brakes were all supplied by Russell at Old Speed. This Bus has a ton of power, excellent braking, a beefed up trans, a low and agressive stance, and the ability to light the tires in second gear.
Overall this is an excellent and great looking example with a best case scenario body and some of the best performance upgrades and traditional Cal style touches that money can buy. The advanced collector owner went all the way in building a remarkable performance Crew Cab.
