1967 Westy Velvet Green!

1967 Westfalia SO42 Camper Bus, Poptop, Walkthru, in Velvet Green!

This exceptionally clean and fresh early 1967 Westfalia was purchased new in South Carolina in 1967.  The original owner enjoyed it for 10 years, sold it to a friend, and years later bought it back.  He kept it another 10 years before selling it again.  It made its way to the current owner who enjoys the process of returning collectible cars to their former glory.  He thoroughly refreshed and accessorized this Camper, recently received an award with it at a car show, and has decided it is time to pass it along to an appreciative new owner.

The list of highlights and features is quite long and includes being a desirable original Velvet Green Bus, the sought after factory Walkthru seating option, being a factory 12 volt Bus, all stock running gear, what we believe to be the original plaid curtains, wood slat roof rack, beautiful original Westfalia trailer hitch with original electrical plug, vintage Sapphire radio that was installed at the dealer, genuine vintage water transfer travel decals, mudflaps, rubber bumper guards, accessory cab steps, and the original August 1966 owner's manual, too.

The body is in nice shape, very solid, and was recently resprayed in the original color of Velvet Green.  The rusted areas were cut out and repaired with fresh metal.  The window seals and body rubber were also replaced at that time.  Other details to note include the correct original pointed end bumpers, correct doors, decklid, apron, and 14 inch Bus wheels, too.

The interior is exceptionally clean and many original details remain as well.  Details to note include the previously mentioned plaid curtains, nice mustard upholstery on the cushions, the original "jump seat" for the walkthru section, original sunvisors, the original paint Velvet Green 1967 only radio blockoff plate also comes with the Bus, accessory shifter extension, original windshield washer bottle, new front seat stand mats, and the poptop material is exceptionally clean, too.  A child's cot from a 1969 also comes with the Bus and the original steering wheel has some typical cracks, can be enjoyed as it is, or you might opt to restore it depending upon your personal tastes.

Mechanically the Bus is a driver with a stock 1500 single port which was rebuilt by Painter's Grind in Denver some years back.  The compression readings at last check were 130, 120, 130, and 135.  The stock reduction box transaxle was also rebuilt some years ago, the front beam was previously rebuilt, and it has a stock 12 volt electrical system as well.  The brakes were also rebuilt and the radial tires are in nice shape, too.  The odometer shows 98,000 miles and we believe that is likely the original mileage on the Bus.

There are some nice little bonues, too, which include a new Bus Depot car cover, 5 spare complete Hehr jalousie window assemblies, and some cans of leftover paint including Velvet Green, Silver White, and Ivory, all of which will come with the Bus.

Overall this is a respectable Bus to enjoy as it is but not so perfect that you are afraid to drive and camp in it.  Thanks!
