1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bus

1971 Deluxe Sunroof, Bus, Original Paint, California Blue Plate Bus!

Here is an exceptional, clean, super solid, and impressively original Deluxe Sunroof Bus that is believed to have 115,000 original miles.  It has been well cared for, garage kept most of its life, and the previous elderly owner had owned it for more than 30 years.

Many collectors consider the 1971 model to be the most desirable and enjoyable of the Bay Window era due to the early upright air cooled engine, the first year for front disc brakes, and the last of the early style taillights and bumpers as well.  This one has the added appeal of being a factory Deluxe, factory optional Sunroof, one of the most-loved color schemes of Niagra Blue and Pastel White, and factory Walkthru seating as well.

The body is in great shape and still displays strong original paint.  You'd be hard pressed to find one with nicer original paint than this these days.  It does have some dings, dents, chips, and scrapes as you'd expect from a Bus with 115,000 miles and 44 years of life.  It is incredibly solid with excellent floors, rockers, belly pans, and the insides of the wheel wells are crazy dry and nice.  There appears to have been a small patch in the front floor from many years ago that is holding up well and most people would never notice it.  There is also a small hole in the battery tray and some small spots of surface rust on the cargo floor that don't appear to go through.  Other details to note including it having all of the original glass including the windshield and the window seals are showing their age, as you'd expect.  The Sunroof had not been opened in many years until recently so it now opens and closes with careful cranking of the original handle.  Its operation would certainly benefit from some cleaning, lubing, and adjusting of the cables, too.

The interior is very complete, way cleaner than average, and mostly original as well.  All 3 rows of seats are present and in nice shape, the headliner is very clean with just a few small holes, and the original dash cover has some typical small cracks around the grab handle as well.  A bit more cleaning and detailing would bring it up to look even nicer than it already is.

Mechanically the Bus is running, driving, and registered.  It is all stock with what we believe is the original 1600cc engine, stock transaxle, and stock suspension.  The electrical is in good order with the exception of the horn which will be fixed before the Bus leaves.

Overall this is a highly desirable combination of options, the most sought after year, and an original condition that is very hard to match these days.  Somebody is going to get a very cool Bus!  Thanks!
